"All his life, Jesus shows himself to be our model: he is the "perfect man" who invites us to be his disciples and to follow him: by his self-abasement, he has given us an example to imitate; by his prayer he draws us to prayer; by his poverty, he calls us to freely accept hardship and persecutions."
"St. Luke introduces us to the knowledge of the discreet and at the same time penetrating light that the Word of God radiates, illuminating the reality and events of history" (St. John Paul II).
But the Pharisee was astonished, seeing that he had omitted the ablutions before eating. But the Lord said to him, "Good! You Pharisees purify the cup and the platter on the outside, but inside you are full of robbery and wickedness. You fools! Let good works spring from within us, from our love of God and neighbor, born of the heart. Let our intention be not to impress men, but simply to please God and to be an encouraging witness to those around us.
No other sign will be given to him than that of Jonah Luke 11:29-32. The greatest sign that God has ever been able to work in the soul is conversion. Lord Jesus, with your Resurrection you have given us the great sign of your love and power, may we live each day in this profound mystery so that we may be true signs of your love for others. Amen.
The Gospel speaks of an invitation addressed to all, bad and good. Such is the proclamation of the Gospel: it is addressed to all; such are the doors of the Church, open to all. Lord Jesus, present and alive in history, help us to be witnesses of your Kingdom, of your presence in our midst. May we be attentive heralds of the Good News, always alert to the insidiousness of the enemy and aware of the power of evil. Keep us united in your cause, patient and charitable among ourselves, persevering in the face of difficulties. May we sow with you. Amen.
Lord Jesus, help us to pray at all times without fainting. May we never tire of being close to you, may we never lose confidence in your times and in your will. Send us the gift of your Spirit to sustain and encourage us. Amen.
Lord Jesus, teach us to pray. Without extra words, but leaving nothing for ourselves. Without pretending, but bearing witness. Without rationalizing, but praying with all our conscience. Without affectation, but putting all our heart into it. Without waiting for our desire to be fulfilled, but knowing that from You we receive everything. Amen.
Lord Jesus, you invite us to focus on what is most important in order to give everything else its rightful place, we ask you not to be confused in the face of life's difficulties and challenges. We ask You to be attentive to Your presence, to Your words and to Your passing by our side. And thus give You glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Lord Jesus, Good Samaritan, it was we who were by the side of the road when you came to heal us and took us to safety. It was we too who so often passed by in the face of the suffering of others. Lord, may we too be the ones who bring your healing presence to every place where we find ourselves. Amen.
