Prayer before the beginning of the Holy Mass St. Ambrose

My Lord Jesus Christ, I, an unworthy sinner, trusting in your mercy and goodness, come to partake of this most
goodness, I come to partake of this Most Holy Banquet of the Altar.
I acknowledge that both my heart and my mind are stained with many sins;
and, that my body and tongue have not been carefully guarded.
Wherefore, adorable God, I, a wretched sinner, in the midst of so many distresses and dangers,
I have recourse to Thee who art the fountain of mercy,
for it is impossible for me to excuse myself before Your gaze as an irritated Judge.
I earnestly desire to obtain your forgiveness, since you are my Redeemer and Savior.
To You, Lord, I present my weaknesses and sins so that You may forgive me.
I acknowledge that I have often offended You.
Therefore I humble myself and repent and hope in your infinite mercy.
Forget my faults and do not punish me as my sins deserve.
Forgive me, You who are goodness itself.
Amen.
